Stevie General Store is named after Stevie Smith and Stevie Nicks. You can read more about the British poet Stevie Smith here.
Stevie General Store is out of touch with mass merchandizing.
On many occasions, work is accomplished through making and doing.
At Stevie, you will find:
- Philomel Clothing, the clothing label we named for the timeless garments we make;
- affordable vintage garments, with some pieces reworked so you don’t have to do it yourself;
- added September 2011: preloved/secondhand modern clothing, many chosen for their layering appeal despite/and to live in our tropical climate;
- added September 2011: evocative home goods that suggest the presence of owners loving an artisanal, crafting, working, inventive life;
- artisan jewelry and woodworking items – we support other artisans as much as we can, and this focus will grow as Stevie grows;
- added October 2011: using metalworking techniques to create personalized jewelry items;
- antique artifacts, from South-East Asia and beyond, such as glass cloches, beautiful apothecary bottles and other rare bottles, uncommon small plates, quite a few small curio cabinets and many rare silver charms;
- vintage collectibles, from the ’40s to the ’70s, sharing our love of ‘the country life’ and “the road not taken”;
- antique gowns, wedding tulle dresses, wiggle dresses, madmen cocktail dresses;
- vintage eyeglasses from the 40′s to 80′s, mint and made to last another 100 years;
- vintage and collectible watches from the 60′s to 70′s, mint and Swiss or Japanese made;
- miniature items for dollhouses and miniature books for collectors;
- Paradise Lights, romantic and surreal vintage and antique table lamps, and minimalist lights we created out of antique or industrial instruments;
- modern, minimalist rings and jewelry, some 99.9% pure silver and others sterling silver, many one-of-a-kind;
- old books and collectible books, with titles we select because we want to read them or have read and loved them;
- Bridget and Hwee Yee turning minor improvements into major overhauls.
